Intro - A little bit about me

Alex Toth

Hello You:
My Story and What Kind of Help YOU may Expect from Me

This may sound like an interview question (and answer), but people are legit to ask "What's the deal with you? Why should I follow?".

Here's my Story. And it can be yours too:

From Test Engineer to Systems Engineering Pioneer ...

As I sat at my desk, staring at the computer screen, I couldn't help but reflect on the winding path that had led me here. Fresh out of university, I had started my career as a Systems Test Engineer at SiemensVDO Automotive, eager to put my engineering skills to the test.

But ...

Little did I know that this role would be the springboard for an incredible journey. During my time there, I developed an automated test tool for my bachelor's thesis, reducing a two-week testing process down to just 20 minutes. This early success fuelled my passion for innovation and problem-solving.

For the next three years, I dedicated myself to honing my skills in testing, eventually moving into a test management position. But the true turning point came when the opportunity to transition into Systems Engineering arose. The company was establishing this new function across their R&D sites, and I was given the chance to be the first Systems Engineer on the team.

It was a daunting prospect, but one that I embraced wholeheartedly. Over the next few years, I helped build the Systems Engineering department from the ground up, working alongside a talented group of engineers to deliver cutting-edge TPMS projects for major OEMs. My hard work and dedication paid off as I was promoted to Technical Project Lead, spearheading a critical strategic initiative.

Leading cross-functional Integrated Product Teams, I learned to navigate the complexities of large-scale engineering projects, honing my ability to bring diverse perspectives together towards a common goal. This experience proved invaluable when I later joined Jaguar Land Rover, where I was tasked with introducing a structured engineering approach and quality processes. And later leading next generation ADAS systems development.

As I continued to expand my horizons, I eventually made the leap to the aviation industry, joining GE Aviation as an Advanced System Integration Engineer on the Boeing 777X program. The transition was not without its challenges, but I relished the opportunity to apply my Systems Engineering expertise in a new and dynamic environment.

Now, as I sit at my desk at Horiba MIRA, leading a team of highly skilled engineers on cutting-edge technology CAV projects, I can't help but marvel at the journey that has brought me here. From my humble beginnings as a Systems Test Engineer to pioneering the Systems Engineering profession, I've learned that the path to success is rarely linear, but rather a winding road filled with unexpected opportunities and challenges.

And as I look towards the future, I know that the lessons I've learned along the way will continue to guide me, inspiring me to push the boundaries of what's possible and to never stop seeking new ways to innovate and grow.
