I was having difficulties focusing and keeping a clear mind while working. I wanted to get clarity and motivation to get through the workday so I could get ahead. To that end I started weightlifting 1 hour daily together with a friend on WhatsApp. It took some time to instil this as part of my routine but now I got 100x more clear-headed, relaxed and confident on how I conduct my profession. More: I'm in better shape than anytime in my life before.

Another tip is "The just do something principle" (keep reading): ⤵️
In weightlifting, showing up and doing something, even if it's not perfect, is better than doing nothing at all. This principle translates directly to work. Tackling tasks, even imperfectly, keeps momentum and leads to progress.
Consistency leads to results via compounding:
Weightlifting teaches you that consistent effort, no matter how small, compounds over time to yield significant results. Applying this to work, daily consistent efforts build up, leading to greater productivity and achievements.
Perseverance is getting across:
Weightlifting is a test of perseverance. Pushing through the tough sets strengthens not just muscles but also mental resilience. In the workplace, this perseverance helps overcome challenges and reach goals.
And don't forget that 80% of success if just showing up!
Clearing mind:
The focused nature of lifting clears the mind, allowing for better concentration and decision-making at work. The mental clarity gained from exercise enhances problem-solving abilities and creativity.
Skills that are common and easier strengthened via exercise:
Time management, goal setting, and discipline are skills honed through lifting and easily transferable to professional tasks.
Other benefits gained via lifting that carry across:
- Enhanced energy levels
- Improved mood and stress management
Losing yourself; flow; deep work:
Weightlifting creates a state of flow, where you lose yourself in the activity. This ability to engage deeply can be mirrored in work, facilitating deep work sessions that boost productivity.
Pitfalls to avoid:
Avoid distractions like phones during workouts to maintain focus, a practice that also enhances work concentration and efficiency.
So why not do the same for your other work too?
Weightlifting teaches you what to do and how to apply.
Go on then - APPLY it!
P.S.: the people I coach were surprised as as you are probably now. But reported similar results in terms of focus outcomes and confidence.
